I am the Consulting Arborist to the Portico Group of Seattle, a landscape architecture firm that specializes in zoos and attractions such as theme parks. The Portico Group is the design firm for the project. A bond measure recently passed has provided funding to renovate this classic park, which was built in the 1960's. I conducted a tree survey of the larger trees and am assisting the Portico Group and other parties who involved in the planning process with the tree-related issues at this park. There are many large and old trees at this park, some of them rare or historic, and it will be a challenge to renovate the park around them.
