Hampton Palace Gardens, view of the rear of the palace that looks down upon the Privy Garden. To the side of the Privy Garden is a wide row of "pyramid yews", Taxus baccata `Stricta', pruned frequently by the palace gardeners to maintain their perfect, uniform conical shape. These yews were brought from Italy and the Netherlands, and were acclimated in England for one year prior to planting.
